Common Questions

Visit our comprehensive help docs for more FAQs and troubleshooting.

How does Kite Pro work?

Kite Pro is the paid tier of Kite’s product. All users can try Kite Pro for free for 4 weeks.

Kite Pro augments Kite’s existing Python completions engine with a deep learning model that can predict multiple words ahead of what you are going to type next. With Kite Pro, Kite’s completions will complete more words more frequently, up to multiple lines of code, allowing you to code even faster.

Look for Kite Pro completions in your editor indicated by the star icon in the completion hint.

What languages does Kite support?

Kite supports Python and JavaScript. Kite for Golang is in beta.

ML-powered completions are our only feature for JavaScript and Golang.

Kite Pro is only relevant for Python developers at this time.

Does Kite send any code to the cloud?

Kite does not send your code or any byproducts of your code (such as computed indices) to the cloud. Kite completions are fully functional without an internet connection.

What data does Kite collect and how is it used?

Kite collects usage data on how you use the product. This data is used to help us gain insights on how our users are using the product and how to improve it. Kite also uses external services such as Rollbar to collect data when crashes or errors occur. This data is used to improve the reliability of the product and to fix critical bugs.
